Hike 2015 - Expectations of Scouts

New Scouts and Scout with less than 12 months experience: Hike with a day pack. (Clothes, lunch, snacks and water). Cooking equipment, bedding, food, and tent does not need to be carried. (Refer to maximum pack weight on the Camping and Hiking Information sheets). Older and more experienced Scouts: Hike with full pack. (Clothes, food and water, cooking equipment, bedding and tent. Sharing of tent components, cooking equipment, etc. would be a good idea. (Refer to maximum pack weight on the Camping and Hiking Information sheets). Water and gear not carried by Scouts will be carried by support vehicles. Water bottle refills will be available during the day. I recommend, unless the Scout has a very good, light weight, hike sleeping bag, additional blankets should be carried by the support vehicle. The support vehicle will deliver the extra blankets and camping gear (for younger Scouts) to the Saturday night camp, then again to the Sunday finishing point.

Attention Patrol Leaders! TC6

Image
Scout Troops work better and Scouts get more fun out of Scouting, when a Troop Council is driving the program and making the decisions that count. TC6 is a challenge for every Scout Troop in Victoria. To qualify as a TC6 Troop in 2015, you need to run at least 6 TCs for the year, including: at least one TC each term  a major planning TC where you work on the program for the year (you might have already had this one at the end of last year for example, but it still counts as a TC for this year if you were working on the 2015 program), and  a reward TC, where the TC members get to just have some fun in recognition of their hard work :).  So, as a TC, sign up to the TC6 challenge below, and get your Troop firing in 2015! If you need more copies of the SL & PL letters posted out to all Troops in February, you can get them here – SL TC6 letter , PL TC6 letter .
