We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday September 1st at 7:30pm. This meeting will be held at the 5th Mildura Scout Hall and all families are invited to attend. This meeting is an ideal way to learn more about the 5th Mildura Group and its running. We have not had an AGM for a couple of years and it would be good to see families attend and show their support for the leaders of Scouts, Venturers and soon to be Cubs!  Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have any questions. There will be a light supper provided. Thank you Terry Dyke

Bunnings BBQs :: Thank You & We Need Your Help Again (Sun 12 Sept)

Image
Thank you to those families who were able to assist at the BBQ on Saturday at Bunnings. We had a very successful fundraiser having to restock our supplies by 12 O’clock, finally selling out of everything by 2pm. I will let families know the amount that was raised through this fun event. Once again thank you to those families and the leaders who assisted on the day and thank you also to the families who were unable to attend this time and let us know. I understand that it is not always possible to help out due to other commitments. We will be running our last BBQ at Bunnings for this year on Sunday September 12th from 9am. Once again I am asking families to help out at this fundraiser as all money raised goes to assisting our children in either Scouts or Venturers. Whilst this is the Sunday of the Cohen Shield Weekend, families who have a child at the Cohen Shield Camp could still help out in the morning as pick up is not until after lunch. Looking forward to hearing from you in

We all busy people, however, if we all assist, then families will only be required to give approx 1 hour of their time. Looking forward to receiving many more offers of help. There will be a parent's meeting Wednesday 18th August at 8:30pm at the 5th Mildura Scout Hall to finalise the BBQ organisation. See you there. Thank You Terry Dyke

Digging in for tree day in Mildura :: Sunraysia Daily 2/8/10

Image
SUNRAYSIA scouts yesterday banded together and worked their green-thumbs in a huge tree planting effort. More than 60 scouts, cubs, joeys, venturers, rovers, and parents met to plant 300 trees behind the Red Cliffs Scout Hall as part of National Tree Day. About 400 native trees and shrubs were also planted in Mildura to rehabilitate and beautify the channel reserve connecting the new marina and the Etiwanda Wetlands. The Sunraysia scouts were just some of the hundreds of thousands of volunteers planting trees around the country. National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community tree planting event and is responsible for planting more than 15 million native trees and shrubs over the past 15 years. Marcus Blount crew leader Jaimie Rodd said the group had planted twice as many trees in Red Cliffs as last year. “Scouts care for the environment and it’s also good to get out and do something in uniform to show we’re active in the community,” he said.
