Mallee Rover Crew's 33rd Mallee Rover Scout Activity Camp

Image
The 33rd Mallee Rover Scout Activity Camp (Mud Camp) is just around the corner. It will be taking place on November 6, 7 and 8, 2009 and will again be held at Tapio Station. Get organised and download the Scout Info Pack here. The Rovers put a huge amount of organisation into this camp, and as such require to know the exact number of Scouts attending the camp well in advance. To reserve your place at this camp, the Rovers require full payment from the Troop by October 19. This means that if you intend to take part in this camp we need to receive your payment of $35.00 plus your completed Health Form this Wednesday night (or the week after at the absolute latest), so the Troop can make payment to the Rovers by October 19. The Rovers will not accept any late payments. This camp, which is is fully catered, costs $35.00. If you haven't been to this camp, check out the photos of the 2007 and 2008 mud camps.

Preparation for AJ2010 Next weekend's camp was originally planned to be a 4 night camp for Scouts attending Jamboree, as each Scout requires a minimum of 4 consecutive nights under canvas and a minimum of 10 nights in total. However, due to work commitments of the leaders, we have decided to reduce this camp to a 2 night, weekend camp. At this camp, each patrol will camp separately. Each patrol will set up their own camp and cater for themselves. This camp will also be an excellent opportunity to get some badge work done. Location of Activity: Steve's Bend - Trentham Cliffs, NSW. Dates of Activity: 6pm on Friday, September 18th to 2pm on Sunday, September 20th. Cost: $NIL. Each Scout to contribute food to patrol for catering. Transport Arrangements: To Camp: Car Pooling, meet at hall on Friday night at 6pm for departure by 6:30pm. Scouts to arrange car pooling on Wendesday night. From Camp: 2pm Sunday. The campsite must be completely packed up and clean before any Scouts can

BY JONO PECH 7/09/2009 4:00:00 AM SUNRAYSIA scouts were well prepared for the Tour of the Murray River Scrapheap Challenge yesterday. The scouts raced their masses of welded and assembled junkyard parts in a fun relay leading up to the Tour of the Murray River’s final stage. Each scout team of five constructed a bike from scrap parts found at Aroundagain, with the resultant contraptions requiring at least five wheels and brakes. A first lap was raced with one pedaler, with another joining for each of the five laps until every team member was pedaling the bike. As well as the Scrapheap Challenge, leading up to the tour’s Mildura stage the Coomealla Cycling Club ran a non-elite bike race, and a fun run/walk was held to raise money for the Cancer Resource Centre. Eddie Warhurst, Tour of the Murray River steering committee chairman, said the tour had been very successful overall and had a fitting ending in Mildura. “The Scrapheap Challenge showed it was more than just a bike race and there
